Tucked away in the Andaman Sea near the Malaysian border, Koh Lipe is a tiny island with an outsized reputation for jaw-dropping water and laid-back charm.
The best time to visit is between November and April, during the dry season, when the seas are calm and the snorkelling is at its finest. The island largely shuts down in the monsoon months.
There are three main beaches: lively Pattaya Beach for restaurants and boats, sunrise-facing Sunrise Beach for long quiet strolls, and Sunset Beach for the most spectacular evenings.
